About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience in the highway construction and asphalt industry. You will rotate through various operations, working alongside experienced professionals to learn how projects are planned, managed, and completed. This is a full-time, paid position for the Summer 2027 term.
What you'll do#
- Rotate through different areas of construction to gain broad industry exposure.
- Work with paving crews to learn the asphalt installation process from layout to completion.
- Collaborate with construction teams and subcontractors on project planning and execution.
- Assess safety hazards and participate in site safety measures.
- Estimate project costs and gain insight into billing, payment, and project bidding processes.
- Manage equipment and assist with manual labor, including the use of hand tools and directing traffic.
- Potentially operate construction equipment.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment or plans to enroll in a college degree program, such as Civil Engineering.
- A valid driver's license.
- Ability to work in high-stress environments.
- Willingness to travel and work extended hours, including nights or weekends.
