About the role#
As a Construction Intern with Pike Industries, a CRH company, you will gain hands-on experience through a summer rotation program. You will work alongside experienced professionals to learn the core aspects of highway construction and paving operations. This role involves rotating between different teams to build skills in project management, quality control, and field operations.
What you'll do#
- Rotate through different areas of construction to learn the paving installation process from project layout to completion.
- Assess safety hazards and participate in safety measures on site.
- Estimate project costs and gain insight into project bidding, billing, and payment processes.
- Collaborate with construction teams on project planning and execution.
- Work with subcontractors and manage equipment.
- Assist with manual labor, use hand tools, direct traffic at construction sites, and operate equipment.
- Learn customer service principles related to construction projects.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment or plans to enroll in a college degree program, such as Civil Engineering.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A valid driver license.
- Willingness to travel and work extended hours, including nights or weekends.
- Ability to perform in high-stress environments.
