About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience in highway construction and paving operations. You will rotate through different teams to learn about asphalt installation, project management, and quality control. This role involves working alongside experienced professionals on active projects throughout Vermont, Maine, and New Hampshire.
What you'll do#
- Rotate through various construction areas to learn project layout and completion.
- Work with paving crews to understand asphalt installation.
- Collaborate with teams on project planning, execution, and bidding.
- Assess safety hazards and participate in site safety measures.
- Manage equipment and coordinate with subcontractors.
- Gain insight into billing, payment processes, and cost estimation.
- Assist with manual labor, use hand tools, direct traffic, and operate equipment.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a college degree program, such as Civil Engineering.
- A valid driver license.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to travel and work extended hours, including nights or weekends.
- Capacity to work in high-stress environments.
