About the role#
As a Construction Management Intern, you will gain hands-on experience across multiple facets of the construction industry. This role offers exposure to heavy construction projects, asphalt plant operations, and business management within a vertically integrated company. You will work alongside project managers, estimators, and field crews to support daily operations and long-term project goals.
What you'll do#
- Manage public and private construction projects, including bidding, contract setup, and subcontract administration.
- Collaborate with estimators, project managers, and crew foremen to plan and execute jobs.
- Support asphalt plant operations by working with plant operators, yard crews, and loader operators.
- Assist with plant maintenance, material logistics, and learning how to operate scales.
- Work directly on construction or prep crews to understand equipment use and job site preparation.
- Partner with the operations manager and accounting team to review financial statements, job costs, and monthly projections.
- Learn about aggregate manufacturing by spending time in quarries and pits.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Construction Management or Operations Management, or possess two to four years of related experience and training.
- Proficiency in Windows, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to write routine reports and speak effectively to employees and customers.
- Mathematical aptitude to compute rates, ratios, percentages, and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to solve practical problems and interpret various written, oral, or diagrammatic instructions.
- Capability to lift and move more than 25 pounds and work in environments with loud noise, moving mechanical parts, and varying weather conditions.
- Willingness to travel, work away from home, and work nights or weekends when required.
