About the role#
The Generative AI Research Engineer Intern will conduct primary and secondary research on advanced healthcare informatics technology. This role focuses on Generative AI and Artificial General Intelligence as they apply to healthcare treatment, payment, and operations. You will work with internal teams to provide intelligence on industry trends and support the development of AI-driven healthcare solutions.
What you'll do#
- Conduct research and produce analytical reports, proposals, and educational materials.
- Assist in the development and improvement of LLMs and machine learning tools used across the organization.
- Partner with business units to provide reliable intelligence and validated technology options.
- Support vendor evaluations and contribute to collaborations with external partners.
- Assist in maintaining an Artificial Intelligence Governance Program.
- Communicate technology-related updates to internal departments and contribute to presentations for senior management.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing or recently completed an advanced degree in healthcare, technology, or a related field (such as Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Health Administration, Biomedical Sciences, or Data Science). A PhD is preferred.
- Strong foundational knowledge in generative AI model development, architectures, and vector databases.
- Hands-on experience with machine learning and deep learning models, including experience with LLM/RAG models and fine-tuning.
- Experience working with cloud services (AWS/Azure), large data sets, and building data pipelines for machine learning solutions.
- Demonstrated interest or experience in AI, healthcare technology, or informatics research.
- Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Location & details#
- This is a remote position based in the United States.
- The internship is available for Summer 2026 or Fall 2026.
- Interns may choose to work between 20 and 40 hours per week.
- The assignment length ranges from one semester up to one year.
- This is a paid internship position.
