Student Engagement Coordinator

About the role#

The Student Engagement Coordinator oversees the student engagement program at Cornell College. This position influences student leadership development through formal and informal methods, assists with retention initiatives, and coordinates special events and activities. The coordinator reports to the Dean of Students and supervises student employees, working closely with faculty, staff, alumni, and the student body.

What you'll do#

• Oversee the student engagement program, including student organizations and New Student Orientation.
• Design, implement, and lead New Student Orientation twice annually, including hiring and training orientation staff.
• Serve as advisor to the PAAC, meeting with the executive committee to ensure regulatory compliance and leadership development.
• Act as a resource for civic engagement programming, such as Lunch Buddies and Angel Tree.
• Provide support to student clubs and organizations regarding contract negotiations, risk management, and equipment storage.
• Collaborate with Student Life to support campus programming, including events like the Big Event and Homecoming.
• Manage routine billings, travel requests, and vouchers while maintaining budget accountability.
• Serve in the Leadership-on-Call rotation, with the opportunity to live on-campus and serve as a primary on-call member.
• Potentially serve as co-advisor to Greek Council, secondary advisor to Student Senate, or as a student conduct officer based on interest and skill set.

What you'll need#

• Bachelor's degree.
• At least three years of professional experience in higher education, preferably in student development, counseling, or education.
• Effective communication, program development, and program marketing skills.
• Knowledge of student life at a small, residential liberal arts college.
• Ability to motivate and work successfully with others.
• Ability to perform light physical activity, including pushing, pulling, and lifting equipment up to 50 pounds.

• Salary: $45,000 - $47,000.
