About the role#
Corient is hiring a Tax Intern for the Winter 2027 term. This is a paid, part-time position based in our Westport, Connecticut office. You will work approximately 24 hours per week from January through April 2027. This role requires you to be on-site 4 days per week.
What you'll do#
- Prepare individual, trust, estate, gift, foundation, and business tax returns.
- Review tax source documents and data processed through OCR for accuracy.
- Conduct research to support tax planning and compliance.
- Stay current on new tax legislation and reform.
- Assist with Federal and State tax notices and audits.
- Maintain and document organized tax files.
- Input financial records into tax software and databases.
- Analyze client tax data to maximize outcomes.
- Support the tax planning process for clients and the tax team.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in accounting or taxation.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles and general tax laws.
- Interest in preparing individual, trust, and business tax returns.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Willingness to learn new tax software.
- Strong analytical, deductive reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
- Detail-oriented approach with effective time management.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under strict deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to provide high-quality client service while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Unrestricted work authorization in the United States.
