Fabrication Technician Intern

About the role#

Comprehensive Prosthetics & Orthotics is seeking a Fabrication Technician Intern in Willowbrook, Illinois. This role supports the hands-on fabrication, modification, and repair of custom prosthetic and orthotic devices within a healthcare manufacturing and clinical environment. Interns will work alongside experienced technicians and clinicians to produce high-quality devices that support patient mobility and independence.

What you'll do#

• Assist with the fabrication, modification, and repair of prosthetic and orthotic devices under supervision.
• Support the preparation, modification, and shaping of plaster molds and positive models.
• Learn to work with various materials, including thermoplastics, laminations, foam, composites, and metals.
• Operate fabrication machinery, hand tools, and specialized lab equipment safely and effectively.
• Read and follow work orders, measurements, and technical documentation.
• Inspect completed devices for quality, durability, finish, and functional standards.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe lab environment.
• Collaborate with clinicians and lab staff to support production timelines.

• Ability to follow directions, ask questions, and work safely in a lab environment.

• Location: Willowbrook, Illinois.
• Modality: On-site.
• Schedule: Monday – Friday, 1st Shift (7:30 AM – 3:30 PM).
• Compensation: $20.00 per hour.
• Status: Full-time, paid internship.
