About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience in the Swine and Animal Nutrition division. You will work alongside experienced professionals to gain a practical understanding of large-scale swine operations, including sow farms, wean-to-finish facilities, and feed manufacturing. The role is tailored to your interests and experience level, culminating in a capstone project presented to senior leadership.
What you'll do#
- Learn to identify, diagnose, and treat common health challenges in production swine.
- Perform wean pig start-up procedures and administer necessary treatments.
- Conduct swine necropsies as part of health monitoring.
- Interact with current and new growers to build professional relationships.
- Collaborate with the Production Supervisor, Feed Mill Manager, Feed Logistics Coordinator, and Grain Merchandiser.
- Develop communication and interpersonal skills through daily operations.
- Complete a capstone project for presentation to senior leadership.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university.
- Strong work ethic and the ability to work independently.
- Ability to follow directions and maintain organization.
- Proficiency in Microsoft apps and programs.
- A valid driver license, a good driving record, and a reliable vehicle.
