About the role#
Keystone Cooperative is hiring a Crop Technician Intern to assist with diagnostic tasks throughout the growing season. This role involves field work to support timely and informed agricultural decisions. You will spend about 75% of your time in fields and the remaining 25% participating in training, tours, and events.
What you'll do#
- Scout fields to identify weeds, insects, diseases, growth stages, and stand counts.
- Create scouting reports and share observations with the Ag Tech team.
- Operate drones to collect aerial imagery and data.
- Collect corn and soybean tissue samples for testing.
- Perform soil moisture tests and install monitoring equipment.
- Collect soil nitrate samples to track nutrient levels.
- Manage the placement and removal of field signs.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited college or university, preferably in an agronomy program.
- A genuine interest in the agricultural field.
- Ability to work outdoors for long periods in all weather conditions.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to learn new concepts quickly.
- Motivation to complete tasks independently and on time.
- Proficiency with iPads, GPS software, and field equipment.
- A valid driver license, a good driving record, and a reliable vehicle.
Location & details#
- This position is based in Lapel, Indiana.
- Work is on-site and the schedule is flexible.
- This is a paid, part-time internship with rolling start dates.
- Mileage is reimbursed at the IRS standard rate.
- The company covers education and exam fees for drone licensing.
- Interns who complete the program are eligible for performance-based incentives.
