About the role#
Keystone Cooperative is hiring a Crop Technician Intern to support our agronomy operations throughout the growing season. This role involves significant time in the field to help our team make informed, economic decisions for our customers. You will work on a flexible schedule with weekly professional development opportunities, including training, tours, and events. This is a paid, part-time, on-site position based in Covington, Ohio.
What you'll do#
- Scout fields to identify weeds, insects, diseases, growth stages, stand counts, and field anomalies.
- Create detailed scouting reports for the Ag Tech team.
- Operate drones to capture aerial imagery and collect data.
- Collect and prepare corn or soybean tissue samples for testing.
- Perform soil moisture tests and install monitoring equipment in irrigated fields.
- Collect soil nitrate samples to monitor nutrient availability.
- Manage the placement and removal of field signs.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited college or university, with a preference for students studying Agronomy.
- Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in all weather conditions.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to learn new concepts quickly.
- Self-motivation and the ability to complete tasks with little supervision.
- A valid driver license, a good driving record, and a reliable vehicle.
- Experience using an iPad, GPS software, and field equipment.
Location & details#
- Location: Covington, Ohio.
- This role requires 100 percent travel within the assigned territory, with approximately 75 percent of time spent in the field and 25 percent in training or events.
- This is a part-time, paid internship.
