About the role#
Crop Technician Interns perform diagnostic tasks throughout the growing season to help the team make informed decisions. This role involves significant time in the field and requires travel within the territory. You will have a flexible schedule and participate in weekly professional development activities.
What you'll do#
- Scout fields to identify weeds, insects, diseases, growth stages, stand counts, and other anomalies.
- Create and submit scouting reports based on your observations.
- Operate drones to collect data and produce aerial imagery.
- Collect corn or soybean tissue samples for testing.
- Perform soil moisture tests and install monitoring equipment.
- Collect soil nitrate samples to monitor nutrient availability.
- Manage the placement and removal of field signs.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited college or university, preferably in an agriculture or agronomy program.
- Ability to work outdoors for long periods in all weather conditions.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to learn new concepts quickly.
- Motivation to complete tasks independently and on time.
- Proficiency with iPads, GPS software, and field equipment.
- A valid driver license, a good driving record, and a reliable vehicle.
