About the role#
As a Reliability Intern at CMC, you will gain hands-on experience in the steel and construction reinforcement industry. You will work across the department to build technical skills and contribute to real-world projects. This role involves collaborating with our continuous improvement team to identify ways to optimize our processes and safety standards. At the end of your internship, you will present a report on an improvement project you completed.
What you'll do#
- Cross-train within the department to learn industrial and engineering technologies.
- Identify and recommend cost-saving opportunities related to process, quality, and safety.
- Work with the continuous improvement team on specific initiatives.
- Troubleshoot technical problems using your experience and team communication.
- Participate in safety programs and uphold the CMC safety culture.
- Present a final report on your improvement project.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an Industrial Engineering or Operations Management program at the Junior or Senior level.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and engineering software such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to read, speak, and write in English.
- Ability to work a 40-hour week during the summer months.
- Physical ability to work in environments with extreme temperatures, dust, fumes, noise, and uneven surfaces.
- Capacity to push or pull up to 90 lbs and carry 50 lbs.
- Ability to apply ISO work instructions and standard operating procedures.
