About the role#
As a Process Engineering Intern in the Melt Shop, you will gain hands-on experience by working directly with our engineering and operations teams. This role provides exposure to industrial technologies within a steel manufacturing environment. You will contribute to process improvement initiatives and support the team in maintaining safety and quality standards.
What you'll do#
- Cross-train across the department to build practical skills in industrial and engineering technologies.
- Conduct and analyze time and motion studies.
- Identify and evaluate opportunities for cost savings, process improvements, and safety enhancements.
- Collaborate with the CMC team on active projects and initiatives.
- Troubleshoot work-related issues by applying technical knowledge and communicating with team members.
- Present a final report or presentation on an improvement project at the end of your internship.
- Participate in company safety programs and uphold our safety culture.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited university program pursuing a Bachelor degree in Engineering or a related field, with Junior or Senior status preferred.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Strong interest in industrial engineering technologies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and engineering software such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
- Ability to understand and apply ISO work instructions and standard operating procedures.
- Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative with minimal supervision.
- Physical ability to work in environments with extreme temperatures, chemicals, dust, fumes, loud noise, elevated areas, and confined spaces.
- Ability to push and pull up to 90 lbs and carry 50 lbs.
- Previous internship experience is preferred.

- Work Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week during the summer months.
- This is a paid internship.
