About the role#
As a Process Engineering Intern in our Rolling Mill, you will gain hands-on experience in industrial and engineering technologies. This role involves working directly with the CMC team on real-world projects, helping us improve our processes and maintain our safety standards.
What you'll do#
- Cross-train across the department to build technical skills.
- Identify and recommend opportunities to save costs through process, quality, and safety improvements.
- Work on specific process improvement initiatives.
- Troubleshoot technical problems by using your job knowledge and consulting with your team.
- Participate in CMC safety programs and uphold our safety culture.
- Prepare and deliver a presentation or report on an improvement project at the end of your internship.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an Industrial Engineering or Operations Management program, preferably at the Junior or Senior level.
- A high school diploma or GED.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and engineering software such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
- Ability to understand and apply ISO work instructions and standard operating procedures.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to read, speak, and write in English.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative with minimal supervision.
- Physical ability to work in environments with extreme temperatures, dust, fumes, loud noise, and uneven surfaces.
- Capacity to push or pull up to 90 lbs and carry up to 50 lbs.
Location & details#
- Location: Cayce, South Carolina.
- This is a full-time, on-site position.
- Interns must be available to work 40-hour weeks during the summer months.
