About the role#
As an Engineering Intern at CMC, you will gain hands-on experience in the steel and construction reinforcement industry. You will work across departments to learn industrial technologies, support process improvement projects, and contribute to real-world operations. This role involves both office-based planning and field-based observation, providing a broad understanding of how our facilities function.
What you'll do#
- Cross-train within the department to develop hands-on skills in industrial and engineering technologies.
- Create, review, and update process flow layouts.
- Collaborate with leadership to improve and sustain existing operational processes.
- Identify and evaluate cost-saving opportunities related to process, quality, and safety.
- Document findings and suggest changes to improve efficiency.
- Work alongside the CMC team on various process improvement initiatives.
- Prepare and present a final report on an improvement project at the end of your internship.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Metallurgical Engineering.
- Junior or Senior level student status.
- Proficiency in MS Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
- Knowledge of engineering software such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
- Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with staff at all levels.
- Ability to follow directions, accept constructive feedback, and maintain positive professional relationships.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Physical ability to bend, stoop, push, pull, lift, kneel, squat, crawl, and reach.
- Ability to work in varying temperature and weather conditions.
- Must meet CMC attendance standards.

- Location: Jacksonville, Florida.
- Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week during the summer months.
- Status: Paid internship.
