About the role#
This internship provides experience in the steel and construction reinforcement industry. You will gain hands-on skills through cross-training and work directly with leadership on process improvement initiatives. The role requires a commitment to a full-time schedule and the ability to work in varying weather and temperature conditions.
What you'll do#
- Cross-train across the department to learn industrial and engineering technologies.
- Conduct time and motion studies and analyze the results.
- Document processes and suggest changes to leadership.
- Create, review, and update process flow layouts.
- Identify and evaluate opportunities for cost savings.
- Work on process improvement and safety projects.
- Present a final report on an improvement project at the end of the term.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or a similar field as a Junior or Senior.
- Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and MS Office programs.
- Familiarity with engineering software such as Auto CAD and Solid Works.
- Ability to interpret working drawings and apply ISO work instructions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team.
- Must be at least 18 years old and meet attendance standards.
- Ability to work overtime, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
- Physical ability to bend, stoop, lift, and reach.
- Previous internship experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of Lean tools is preferred.
