About the role#
The Housing Navigator Intern works with individuals and families to secure stable housing. This role involves direct service in office and community settings, helping clients navigate the application process and access necessary resources. This is a paid, full-time internship with a rolling term.
What you'll do#
- Help clients complete Centralist Waitlist and subsidized housing applications.
- Manage the Housing Stabilization waiting list by contacting clients and performing eligibility screenings.
- Maintain a small caseload and enter client data into the HMIS system.
- Perform administrative tasks including online research, filing, and creating marketing materials.
- Conduct outreach to community organizations to improve access to services.
- Complete documentation according to agency standards and HIPAA guidelines.
- Attend team meetings and participate in professional development.
What you'll need#
- A valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and proof of current auto insurance.
- Ability to maintain a flexible schedule to meet client needs.
- Ability to travel to various office and community sites and lift up to 20 lbs.
- Preference for candidates with case management experience in housing or child welfare.
- Preference for candidates with experience in Rhode Island housing support services.
- Bilingual skills are a plus.
- Pursuing a degree in Sociology, Psychology, Public Health, Human Resources, or Criminal Justice.

- Work locations include Providence, East Providence, Smithfield, and North Smithfield, Rhode Island.
