About the role#
This is a 12-week paid summer internship for students pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering. You will work within either the Project Engineering or Reliability Department to gain exposure to refinery operations and safety practices. You will report to a senior engineer and complete a final presentation on your projects and accomplishments.
What you'll do#
- Perform engineering research and provide technical assistance.
- Support the development of engineering packages and generate discipline-related work scopes.
- Update engineering records, databases, and project documentation.
- Edit engineering training manuals.
- Assist in creating and updating equipment reliability and integrity plans.
- Review existing engineering documentation, including drawings and technical data.
- Consult with Senior Project Engineers and Managers.
- Conduct site visits to witness activities and perform project scoping and verification.
What you'll need#
- High School Diploma.
- Enrollment in an accredited Electrical Engineering Bachelor Degree program with at least sophomore status.
- Minimum overall GPA of 3.0.
- Ability to work 40 hours per week for the full 12-week program.
- Valid driver's license.
- Strong analytical and communication skills with the ability to work in a team environment.
- Eligibility for a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, on-site role based in Lemont, Illinois or Downers Grove, Illinois.
- The internship term is Summer 2027.
