About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience within our reliability and rotating equipment teams at the Big West Oil refinery. You will work alongside experienced professionals to apply your engineering knowledge to real-world tasks, helping to optimize equipment performance and support refinery operations. This is a full-time, on-site role based in North Salt Lake.
What you'll do#
- Assist the reliability team in monitoring and analyzing equipment wear and end-of-life timelines.
- Support engineers as they develop maintenance strategies to improve reliability and extend the life of refinery assets.
- Create and review engineering drawings and specifications for equipment repairs or modifications.
- Perform field inspections of pumps, compressors, tanks, and piping to assess condition and troubleshoot issues.
- Help with data analysis for vibration monitoring and predictive maintenance programs.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a full-time student at an accredited four-year university pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Junior or Senior standing is preferred.
- A solid understanding of mechanical engineering principles, specifically thermodynamics and fluid dynamics.
- Proficiency in data analysis and the Microsoft Office Suite.
- A proactive, problem-solving attitude and a strong desire to learn.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
