About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience within the Health, Safety, and Environment team at our refinery. You will work alongside experienced professionals to apply your academic knowledge to real-world industrial safety challenges. This role involves direct participation in the daily operations of an active facility, helping to maintain safety standards and operational integrity.
What you'll do#
- Conduct field audits and inspections to identify potential hazards.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols.
- Assist in the development and delivery of safety training materials for employees and contractors.
- Support the investigation of safety incidents and near misses.
- Determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
- Contribute to the management of industrial hygiene programs, including air quality monitoring and noise exposure assessments.
- Participate in safety committee meetings and collaborate with various departments to promote a strong safety culture.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a full-time student at an accredited four-year university.
- Pursuit of a degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.
- Junior or Senior standing is preferred.
- A proactive approach to hazard identification and a strong interest in industrial safety.
- Excellent observational and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.

- Term: Full-time internship for Summer 2026, running from May through August.
