    About the role#

    This internship provides hands-on experience with industrial automation in a manufacturing setting. You will work directly with PLCs, HMIs, industrial networks, sensors, and control systems. Throughout the summer, you will build your skills in troubleshooting, data analysis, and project management while learning how automation improves manufacturing performance. You will receive mentorship and participate in professional development workshops.

    What you'll do#

    • Support the Automation & Controls team with daily technical tasks and project work across plant operations.
    • Update and organize documentation for PLCs, HMIs, networks, electrical systems, and equipment.
    • Collect and analyze data from production systems to create reports, dashboards, and project updates.
    • Assist with automation projects, including plant demand management, safety improvements, and the modernization of legacy equipment.
    • Help with controls standardization, OT asset inventory, and continuous improvement activities.
    • Conduct field verification of equipment, drawings, and control system information.
    • Research automation solutions to support project planning and implementation.
    • Shadow Controls and Automation professionals and participate in team meetings.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in a four-year degree program for Electrical Engineering, Controls Systems Engineering, or a related field.
    • Sophomore standing or higher with a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or above.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks.
    • Ability to succeed in a team environment and build strong working relationships.
    • Training in PLC languages.
    • Experience with AutoCAD, Microsoft SQL, and Wonderware InTouch.

    • Location: Shawano, Wisconsin.
    • Modality: On-site.
    • Term: Summer 2027, starting in May.
    • Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week.
    • This is a paid position. Please note that this role may require verification of U.S. Person status for compliance with U.S. export control laws.
