Metals Logistic/Traffic Coordinator Intern

About the role#

The Metals Logistic/Traffic Coordinator Intern will plan, schedule, and execute the movement of ferrous and non-ferrous scrap materials and finished metal products. This role acts as a liaison between traders, suppliers, yard operations, and transportation providers to ensure material is moved safely and cost-effectively. This is a full-time, on-site, paid internship.

What you'll do#

• Schedule inbound and outbound shipments of ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
• Coordinate truck, rail, container, and intermodal shipments.
• Optimize freight routing to minimize transportation costs and transit times.
• Communicate daily shipment schedules to operations, traders, suppliers, and customers.
• Enter, track, and maintain scheduling and shipment records within CROW/RIMAS.
• Secure freight rates and monitor carrier performance.
• Verify shipping documentation, including weights, scale tickets, and bills of lading.
• Ensure all loads comply with DOT and company safety requirements.

What you'll need#

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, Transportation, or a related field.
• Prior experience in logistics, traffic, transportation, or supply chain coordination.
• Experience in metals recycling, scrap, steel, manufacturing, commodities, or bulk materials.
• Strong understanding of truckload and LTL freight.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and solve problems effectively.
