About the role#
The Metals Logistic/Traffic Coordinator Intern will plan, schedule, and execute the movement of ferrous and non-ferrous scrap materials and finished metal products. This role acts as a primary liaison between traders, suppliers, yard operations, and transportation providers to ensure materials are moved safely and cost-effectively. This is a full-time, paid internship.
What you'll do#
- Schedule inbound and outbound shipments of ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
- Coordinate truck, rail, container, and intermodal shipments.
- Optimize freight routing to minimize transportation costs and transit times.
- Communicate daily shipment schedules to operations, traders, suppliers, and customers.
- Enter, track, and maintain scheduling and shipment records within CROW/RIMAS.
What you'll need#
- An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, Operations Management, or a related field is preferred.
- Prior experience in logistics, traffic, transportation, or supply chain coordination.
- Experience in metals recycling, scrap, steel, manufacturing, commodities, or bulk materials is preferred.
- A strong understanding of truckload and LTL freight.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
