About the role#
This program provides hands-on experience in the operations of a broadcast television station. You will work alongside staff at WESH 2 News to develop skills in news writing, producing, reporting, and digital media. Opportunities are available across several departments, including the newsroom, production, weather, and marketing. You must attend an orientation session on your first day.
What you'll do#
- Participate in on-scene reporting, video editing, research, and assignment desk tasks.
- Learn technical operations such as robotic cameras, floor directing, lighting, and show set-ups.
- Research, write, and publish stories for WESH.com while analyzing online metrics.
- Collaborate with meteorologists to create and deliver forecast information.
- Gain practical experience in marketing, advertising, promotion, or production.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a program related to Communications, Journalism, or Media Studies.
- For Production/Studio Operations: You must be comfortable with heights and able to lift light equipment.
- For Weather: You need a working knowledge of a meteorology curriculum or a closely related course of study.
Location & details#
- This internship is located on-site in Winter Park, Florida.
- The program runs during the Winter 2027 term.
- This is a paid, part-time position.
- Interns work three days a week with eight-hour shifts on varying schedules.
