About the role#
Casa de la Familia offers a clinical internship program for graduate students pursuing a master's degree in social work or marriage and family therapy. This program provides training and supervision to help you build a foundation for professional work in mental health. You will join an interdisciplinary team and participate in monthly training sessions covering intervention strategies and evidence-based practices.
What you'll do#
Interns provide direct patient care, including individual, family, and group therapy. You will carry a caseload of 12 clients and facilitate 1 to 2 therapy groups, such as parenting, anger management, or stress management. Your responsibilities include:
- Performing intake assessments and risk assessments.
- Applying risk management techniques and managing clinical crises.
- Providing case management and psychoeducation.
- Coordinating services with law enforcement and other providers.
- Creating family genograms.
- Developing community supports and presentations.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited professional graduate school.
- Pursuit of a master's degree in social work or marriage and family therapy.
- Eligibility to serve as an MFT trainee or MSW student intern.
Location & details#
- Location: Santa Ana, California.
- Modality: On-site.
- Commitment: Minimum of 20 hours per week for a 12-month period.
- Schedule: Includes 10 hours of direct patient care, 5 hours of non-patient care, 1 hour of individual supervision, 2 hours of group supervision, and monthly meetings.
- Status: Paid internship with rolling admissions.
