About the role#
Automated Logic, a business within Carrier, designs building automation systems focused on energy efficiency and occupant comfort. We are looking for a Field Engineer Intern to join our team for the summer of 2027. This role involves technical work on building systems and requires a focus on customer service and project progress.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the startup, commission, and re-commission of customer systems.
- Maintain accurate As-Built drawing packages and update documentation in Visio, Excel, and Word.
- Calibrate systems using electronic test equipment including multi-meters and network terminals.
- Assist with static and dynamic commissioning of software programming.
- Set up operator workstations and perform daily job database backups.
- Track job progress and keep project management informed of any concerns or issues.
- Complete all required paperwork, including time sheets, expense reports, and work orders.
- Coordinate with lead project personnel upon arrival and departure from work sites.
- Assist with the turnover of projects to service teams.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Computer, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Industrial, Aerospace, or Biomedical Engineering.
- An overall GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Eligibility to work in the US without sponsorship.
- A valid and current driver’s license and the ability to be insured by our company carrier.
- Willingness to travel more than 50 percent of the typical work week.
- Ability to climb ladders or use lift equipment over 8 feet and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Basic understanding of control logic.
- Knowledge of DDC control theory, HVAC applications, or prior experience in Building Automation is preferred.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship.
- The position is on-site in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, or State College, Pennsylvania.
- This role is not eligible for company benefits.
