About the role#
As a Purchasing Intern at Carboline, you will work within our supply chain operations. This role provides an opportunity to support supplier partnerships, source products, and use data to inform business decisions. You will gain exposure to how a global chemical manufacturing organization functions while working on projects that support our day-to-day operations.
What you'll do#
- Build foundational knowledge of the paint and coatings industry through hands-on experience.
- Update and maintain critical purchasing data to ensure accuracy.
- Communicate directly with suppliers to gather business information.
- Analyze and resolve invoice discrepancies and inventory challenges.
- Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and Operations to shape forecasts.
- Support sourcing initiatives that contribute to cost savings and operational efficiency.
- Assist in active product development projects and strategic purchasing efforts.
- Follow company safety and quality standards and protocols.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Procurement, Supply Chain, or a related field.
- Availability to work 30 to 40 hours per week from May through August 2027.
- Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
- A proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

- This is a paid, full-time internship located on-site in St. Louis, Missouri.
- The term runs from May through August 2027.
- This position is office-based with extended computer use.
- You must arrange your own housing in or near St. Louis, as no housing allowance is provided.
