About the role#
This position offers hands-on experience with heavy mining equipment, including trucks and shovels. You will work with the Mine Maintenance, Planning and Reliability team to optimize maintenance strategies and improve equipment performance. This is a 12-month, full-time, paid internship based on-site in Fort McMurray. The role operates on a shift schedule of 8 days on and 6 days off, with 10-hour shifts.
What you'll do#
- Assist in developing cost-effective maintenance strategies for the fleet of shovels, trucks, and support equipment.
- Identify equipment bad actors and collaborate with stakeholders to implement solutions.
- Support condition monitoring by analyzing equipment health data and inspection findings to spot reliability risks.
- Review maintenance histories, costs, and key performance indicators to improve equipment performance.
- Prepare and compile maintenance and reliability statistics to support availability and cost management.
- Participate in the development and updating of equipment maintenance standards and procedures.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor’s degree program in Mechanical, Mining, Civil, or Industrial Engineering.
- Interest in heavy equipment maintenance and reliability.
- Proficiency in data analysis and reporting.
- A valid Class 5 Alberta driver’s license.
- Physical and mental fitness for work.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screening test.
- Legal authorization to work in Canada.
