About the role#
As a software engineering intern at Branch International, you will work closely with experienced engineers to contribute to our products and codebase. This role offers the opportunity to brainstorm, design, code, debug, and ship features that serve millions of customers. You will spend 4-6 months gaining hands-on experience and developing skills necessary for your career in a collaborative, mission-driven environment.
What you'll do#
- Build functionality for existing and new product lines including credit, payments, KYC, and data platforms.
- Integrate with various third-party systems such as payment systems, identity providers, and messaging platforms.
- Collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams to shape and deliver high-impact features.
- Take ownership of your work, from initial design and coding to testing, monitoring, and documentation.
What you'll need#
- Experience building applications beyond toy projects, such as real-world applications or open-source contributions.
- A solid foundation in computer science fundamentals, including distributed systems and data storage.
- Proficiency in at least one mainstream programming language such as Python, Ruby, Java, or Kotlin.
- Familiarity with Unix environments and command-line utilities.
- Strong communication skills and an entrepreneurial mindset, with the ability to take initiative and solve problems proactively.
- A genuine appreciation for engineering craft, including automated testing, clean architecture, and the software development lifecycle.
