About the role#
As an Android Engineer Intern, you will contribute to the Branch Android app by building new features, optimizing performance, and shaping the technical direction of the product. You will work alongside Android engineers, product managers, and designers to deliver a reliable user experience. This role involves taking ownership of projects from development through to release while participating in code reviews and technical discussions.
What you'll do#
- Build and improve features for the Branch Android app to ensure a smooth and user-friendly experience.
- Collaborate with backend teams to integrate APIs and support new product functionality.
- Enhance app performance and stability by reducing crashes and improving reliability.
- Support third-party integrations, including payments, authentication, analytics, and marketing services.
- Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and team collaboration to maintain engineering standards.
- Take ownership of features and projects, driving them from initial development to final release.
- Improve code quality, testing, and overall maintainability of the Android codebase.
What you'll need#
- Experience building native Android applications, such as projects with real users or open-source contributions.
- Strong understanding of Android development using Kotlin.
- Proficiency in modern Android UI development using Jetpack Compose, including managing UI state and following architecture patterns.
- Experience interacting with REST APIs and backend services.
- Deep understanding of Android app performance, crash debugging, and stability optimization.
- Demonstrated fluency with AI-assisted development workflows.
- Clear, structured communication skills with the ability to operate effectively in an asynchronous environment.
- Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Data Science, or Mathematics.
