About the role#
The Education Internship at the Boston Symphony Orchestra supports the Education and External Engagement team. You will assist with administrative tasks, program facilitation, and strategic planning. This role is designed for students interested in arts administration and community engagement. You will work directly with department leadership and program managers to support project management cycles and outreach efforts. This is a paid, part-time position requiring at least 5 hours of in-person work per week.
What you'll do#
- Provide direct support to the Education and External Engagement team, including the VP, directors, and program managers.
- Assist with strategic planning processes and project management cycles through research and materials preparation.
- Manage administrative duties such as organizing project databases, preparing for meetings, and handling correspondence.
- Partner with internal BSO teams to build brand awareness and increase community engagement.
- Support fiscal management by tracking inventory, monitoring expenditures, and submitting reports.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment as a college sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate student in good academic standing.
- Academic focus in Business Administration, Communications, Psychology, Marketing, Art, or Media Studies.
- Experience with goal setting and strategic development.
- Knowledge of classical music and an understanding of project management principles.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Location & details#
- This internship is based in Boston, Massachusetts.
- The term runs from October 1, 2026, through May 31, 2027.
- Work is on-site with a flexible schedule, Monday through Friday, between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
- Occasional evening and weekend event participation is required.
