About the role#
Our R&D engineers design and develop implant products for the Active Implantable Systems group. These technologies monitor, diagnose, and treat irregular heart rhythms, heart failure, and sudden cardiac arrest. You will work on software for medical device prototypes that support a patient's entire continuum of care.
What you'll do#
- Design and implement software features for medical device prototypes using Java.
- Contribute to development tasks using Kotlin, C++, and JavaScript.
- Support mobile and embedded development on Android OS and Linux.
- Optimize software performance, reliability, and user experience in clinical environments.
- Collaborate with engineering and clinical teams to translate procedural insights into software requirements.
- View live and recorded medical procedures to inform design decisions.
- Develop and validate test methods that replicate real-world device usage.
- Integrate clinical feedback into iterative software improvements.
- Work with clinical datasets to identify patterns and inform device behavior and interface logic.
What you'll need#
- Current rising junior or rising senior status working toward a Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
- Experience with Java.
- Familiarity with Kotlin, Android OS, Linux, C++, and JavaScript.
- Ability to start the internship on May 17th or 24th, 2027, and commit to 12 weeks.
- Reliable transportation to and from work.
- Preferred: Medical industry experience, strong communication skills, and demonstrated technical abilities.
