About the role#
The Active Implantable Systems (AIS) R&D group develops technologies that monitor, diagnose, and treat conditions like heart failure and irregular heart rhythms. As a Research Data Science Intern, you will work with clinical, software, and hardware teams to support the design of algorithms for implantable medical devices. This is a paid, full-time summer position.
What you'll do#
- Build deep learning models to predict cardiac events using ECG and physiological data.
- Apply signal processing techniques to analyze and interpret biosignals for device diagnostics.
- Support the design of AI and machine learning algorithms to improve implantable device performance.
- Use Python-based tools for data analysis, simulation, and model validation.
- Analyze large datasets from implantable devices to identify patterns for future therapy development.
- Contribute to feasibility studies regarding novel diagnostic features.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Ph.D. program in Neuroscience or Biomedical Engineering, with a graduation date by May 2028.
- Previous internship experience within the Boston Scientific AIS R&D department.
- Ability to start on May 17th or May 24th, 2027, and complete a 12-week term.
- Reliable transportation to and from the work site.

- This role is based in Arden Hills, Minnesota.
- The position follows an on-site work model, requiring presence in the office five days per week.
