The Student Nurse Apprentice Program (SNAP) offers nursing students graduating in Winter 2026 the opportunity to complete paid clinical hours in a Medical-Surgical or Progressive Care Unit during their final semester. This program is designed to enhance clinical skills, self-confidence, and critical thinking. Following the completion of clinical hours, participants continue working 8 hours per pay period in a Nurse Apprentice, LPN, or PCT role. This position is considered safety-sensitive, requiring the ability to maintain a constant state of alertness.
What you'll do#
- Implement direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADL), perform vital signs, monitor intake and output, and carry out fall and pressure ulcer prevention measures.
- Collect clinical data and report changes in patient status to the nursing team.
- Assist with patient and family education.
- Document all patient care activities provided.
- Participate in safety, quality, and regulatory compliance activities, including acting as a 1:1 patient safety sitter when necessary.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in the final year of an accredited RN or BSN program.
- No prior work or supervisory experience is required.
- No specific licenses or certifications are required to apply.
