About the role#
The Security Incident Response Team at BlackBerry works to ensure the software integrity and resilience of our products. We are looking for a student to join our team to help respond to software-based cyber threats. You will work alongside various teams to identify, analyze, and mitigate vulnerabilities.
What you'll do#
- Build systems and workflows to scale our security efforts.
- Use agentic tools to find, assess, and suggest fixes for software vulnerabilities.
- Triage vulnerabilities and evaluate risk using metrics like CVSS.
- Coordinate response activities and drive the remediation of issues.
- Deepen your security knowledge to help protect our customers.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a post-secondary degree or diploma program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Programming and debugging experience with Python.
- Experience using agentic coding assistants.
- Ability to analyze code behavior and manage multiple parallel tasks.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Analytical skills and the ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team.
- Knowledge of secure software development lifecycles, application security, and common vulnerability classes.
- Skills in reverse engineering and creating proof of concept exploits.
- Familiarity with cryptography, including hashes, SSL/TLS, and public key systems.
