About the role#
As an Intern in Product Security, you will partner with stakeholders across the business, including Corporate IT, Cloud Services, and Product Development. You will contribute to the implementation of security solutions and controls. This role is for someone who enjoys digging into code, understanding how systems work, identifying flaws, and offering recommendations on remediation. You will gain exposure to the full software development lifecycle and develop skills in threat modeling, static and dynamic analysis, vulnerability management, and offensive security.
What you'll do#
- Identify security risks at the application level at each stage of development.
- Proactively work to ensure risks are assessed and mitigated across the business.
- Integrate static and dynamic code analysis tools into the software development lifecycle.
- Arrange or conduct vulnerability and penetration tests against defined systems.
- Monitor application security trends and keep senior management informed about implications for Kinaxis.
- Assist in performing risk assessments, threat modeling, and other product security reviews.
- Review and triage SAST and SCA reports while working with developers to prioritize and remediate findings.
- Maintain and fix issues in CI/CD pipelines.
- Implement enhancements to in-house custom-built security tools.
What you'll need#
- Completion of the 2nd year of a Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Cybersecurity program.
- Basic knowledge of secure coding, application security testing, ethical hacking, and vulnerability management.
- Hands-on experience with tools such as NMAP, Burp Suite, OWASP ZAP, Nexpose, SonarQube, or Metasploit.
- Familiarity with programming languages like JavaScript, PowerShell, Python, Java, or C#.
- Familiarity with the OWASP Top 10.
- Adaptability and the ability to pivot based on business needs.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or Jenkins is an asset.
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices.
- Participation in CTFs, security clubs, or open-source contributions is a plus.
Location & details#
- Location: Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
- Modality: Hybrid (at least three days per week in the office).
- Term: Full-time, 8-month position starting January 2027.
- Compensation: $25.24 - $37.02 per hour.
