About the role#
Join BJC HealthCare as a PRN Float Student Nurse Tech. This role supports patients across East Region hospitals in various acute care settings, including the ED, ICU, PACU, telemetry, and med/surg units. You will work under the supervision of registered nurses to gain clinical experience and build your skills. The position requires an initial 3-week full-time training commitment before you transition to your regular schedule.
What you'll do#
- Provide direct patient care under the supervision of the nursing team.
- Assist nurses with patient and family education.
- Document all patient care activities using correct medical terminology.
- Act as a 1:1 patient safety sitter when necessary.
- Collect clinical data and report abnormal findings to the nurse.
- Prepare patients for tests and procedures.
- Ensure necessary supplies and equipment are available for patient needs.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited nursing program.
- Completion of nursing fundamentals with a clinical component.
- Completion of a foundational nursing skills course or equivalent.
- Ability to adapt to new environments and provide compassionate care.
- Willingness to travel to all East Region locations, including sites in Illinois.
- Requirement to submit end-of-term grades and your school schedule to remain active.
Location & details#
- Location: Saint Louis, Missouri.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: PRN, self-scheduled with a minimum of 24 hours every 6 weeks.
- Requirements: Includes 12 weekend hours and holiday rotation.
- Start Dates: Upcoming cohorts begin November 30, December 14, and January 11.
