About the role#
The Bismarck Larks are seeking a TV Play By Play Broadcaster Intern for the Summer 2027 season. This role offers an immersive, hands-on experience in sports broadcasting and production, designed to help students prepare for a career in the sports and entertainment industry. You will work on-site in Bismarck, North Dakota, throughout the summer season.
What you'll do#
- Broadcast all 36 home games on the Northwoods League TV Network or ESPN+.
- Lead 5-15 live games on ESPN+ and at least one live game on NBC/Fox.
- Create Lead-In shows and perform pre-game research, including statistics and player interviews.
- Provide play-by-play commentary and handle post-game duties like live interviews and result summaries.
- Update official scoring rosters, team websites, and in-stadium elements like lineup boards.
- Write promotional pieces and assist with in-house video production.
- Maintain broadcast equipment and represent the team at Larks and Funatix events.
- Assist with ballpark operations, including set-up, tear-down, and marketing material distribution.
- Attend weekday office hours and perform as the team mascot at least once during the summer.
- Promote a positive fan experience throughout the ballpark.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled as a college student in fields such as Communications, Journalism, Media Studies, or Sport Management.
- Proven play-by-play experience is required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to manage time effectively, multi-task, and take initiative.
- A team-oriented mindset with a positive, hard-working attitude.
- Physical ability to lift 30-50 lbs and work extended shifts up to 14 hours.
- Previous experience in live sports broadcasting, Adobe Creative Suite, and social media management is preferred.
