About the role#
Bird Construction is seeking a Student Project Coordinator to join our Buildings West team for an 8-month co-op position. This role begins in January 2027 and is based in Richmond, BC. You will manage specific project responsibilities while receiving guidance from a supervisor and a technical mentor. Projects are scoped to match your term length and focus on active construction sites.
What you'll do#
- Coordinate drawings and manage specific scopes or trades.
- Review trade quotes to verify material quantities, hours, and rates.
- Participate in project meetings and conduct deficiency walks.
- Update deficiency logs and issue warranties.
- Take and coordinate progress photos.
- Update field drawings and produce as-built drawings.
- Perform quantity takeoffs and coordinate sub-trade work.
- Verify site conditions and supervise sub-trade activities.
- Set up and maintain project record keeping.
- Layout site lines and grades using a total station.
- Update and create project schedules, including graphical scheduling.
- Obtain scheduling data from sub-trades and monitor manpower productivity.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Civil, Mechanical, Structural Engineering, or Construction program.
- Completion of at least one semester of education following this internship.
- A GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Ability to adapt to frequent changes and work collaboratively.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- A sense of urgency and commitment to project goals.
- Residency or a valid work permit for Canada.
- A current transcript must be included with your application.
