About the role#
Benesch is looking for an intern to join our bridge and structural engineering team. You will work alongside experienced professionals to support transportation projects. This role involves both design tasks and field work, providing exposure to the full lifecycle of structural engineering.
What you'll do#
- Support the design of conventional and complex bridge and structure projects.
- Assist with load ratings and bridge inspections.
- Gain hands-on experience by contributing to design and analysis tasks.
- Learn directly from project engineers and managers.
- Collaborate with team members on active projects.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
- A strong interest in bridge and structural engineering.
- Excellent analytical, technical, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Familiarity with AASHTO, IDOT, and ISTHA design and construction standards is preferred.
- A master’s degree in Civil Engineering with a structural focus, or plans to obtain one within two years, is preferred.
