About the role#
As a Bridge and Structures Intern at Benesch, you will work alongside professionals to solve transportation challenges. This role involves supporting conventional and complex bridge and structure design, performing load ratings, and assisting with bridge inspections. You will gain hands-on experience by contributing to design, analysis, and field tasks while learning directly from experienced engineers.
What you'll do#
- Support the design of conventional and complex bridge and structural projects.
- Perform load ratings and bridge inspections.
- Contribute to design, analysis, and field-based tasks.
- Learn from and collaborate with experienced engineers, Project Engineers, and Project Managers.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited university with a focus on structures.
- Strong interest in bridge and structural engineering.
- Excellent analytical, technical, and communication skills.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
- A master’s degree in Civil Engineering with a structural focus, or plans to obtain one within two years, is preferred.
- Familiarity with AASHTO, IDOT, and ISTHA design and construction standards is preferred.
