About the role#
As a Tax Intern in Core Tax Services, you will work under the guidance of experienced professionals to support our client base. This role offers hands-on experience with firm practices and provides an opportunity to build professional relationships. You will assist with tax compliance, consulting, and accrual projects throughout the summer.
What you'll do#
- Prepare tax returns and extensions while ensuring compliance with firm policies and the BDO Tax Quality Manual.
- Use tax software to complete simple returns and perform quarterly estimates.
- Organize files and use referencing systems to support efficient review processes.
- Assist with responses to Internal Revenue Service notices and project year-end filings.
- Support components of income tax provisions and ASC 740 tax accruals.
- Use online research tools to monitor tax law developments and recommend methods to maximize client benefits.
- Collect data required for filing and take initiative on upcoming deadlines.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelors or Masters program in Accounting or a relevant field. A Masters degree is preferred.
- Active pursuit of school credits required for CPA certification.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to follow instructions, work effectively in a team, and maintain a positive attitude.
- Leadership experience is preferred.
