About the role#
The Pharmacy Intern supports the Pharmacy Manager in the daily operations of the pharmacy. This full-time, paid internship for Summer 2026 focuses on providing patient-centric care and achieving business objectives within a retail environment. The role requires working on-site in West Sacramento, California.
What you'll do#
- Assist in pharmacy operations, including inventory management, expense control, and maintaining gross margins.
- Prepare, dispense, and sell prescription and pharmacy-related products under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
- Participate in pharmacy performance programs, including adherence platforms like Outcomes MTM, EQUiPP, and OptumRx.
- Provide clinical services such as immunizations, injections, and patient consultations regarding drug therapy plans and therapeutic outcomes.
- Support store leadership in meeting sales objectives and increasing prescription volume.
- Maintain compliance with all local, state, and federal laws, as well as company policies.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited School of Pharmacy.
- A valid state-issued Pharmacy Intern license for California.
- Current Immunization Certificate.
- Knowledge of laws governing OTC drugs, pharmacy products, and third-party plans.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Access, Excel, and Word.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet store and customer needs.
