Hardware Sourcing Intern

About the role#

Base Power Company is seeking a Hardware Sourcing Intern to manage supplier relationships and support product development and manufacturing. You will collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and logistics teams to ensure the necessary materials and processes are in place to support the product roadmap, with a primary focus on general hardware manufacturing.

What you'll do#

• Create and run requests for proposals (RFPs).
• Develop cost models to support decision-making.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions directly with suppliers.
• Build and maintain strong supplier partnerships.
• Develop and implement sourcing and cost management strategies for existing and new products.
• Ensure suppliers are prepared for prototype builds, product ramp-up, and mass production.
• Present recommendations regarding contract awards, cost reviews, and supply chain risk assessments.

What you'll need#

• Current pursuit of a degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical, or Computer Engineering, or Supply Chain Management.
• Strong Excel and spreadsheet analysis skills.
• Excellent organizational and project management abilities.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• A flexible, solutions-oriented mindset.
• Coursework or experience related to hardware manufacturing, supply chain, or operations.
