About the role#
As a Hardware Engineering Intern, you will work on the development of residential energy systems including batteries, power inverters, and interconnection devices. You will join our team for the Summer 2026 term to assist with product development phases ranging from initial prototyping to production support. You will work alongside experienced engineers to solve mechanical and electrical design challenges.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with senior engineers to design, simulate, build, and test electrical and mechanical systems.
- Participate in hands-on prototyping, debugging, and iterative testing of hardware.
- Support R&D and production efforts, from initial breadboards to high-volume manufacturing.
- Diagnose and solve performance, thermal, and integration issues.
- Contribute to system documentation, test procedures, and design reviews.
What you'll need#
- Current junior or senior undergraduate student, or graduate student, in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics.
- Strong understanding of electrical or mechanical engineering fundamentals.
- Interest in hands-on hardware development.
- Experience with CAD design tools like SolidWorks or Fusion 360 is a plus for mechanical focus areas.
- Familiarity with schematic capture and PCB layout tools like KiCad or Altium is a plus for electrical focus areas.
