About the role#
This internship focuses on transportation engineering. You will work in a collaborative environment to gain practical experience across various project phases. You will learn about the processes and values that drive our employee-owned firm while working alongside experienced staff.
What you'll do#
- Receive on-the-job training for engineering activities and general procedures.
- Assist with drafting and help develop full project plans.
- Perform routine tasks to become familiar with engineering methods and programs.
- Learn about survey activities, including the use of GPS and conventional equipment.
- Observe construction processes and perform field tests.
- Compile data and complete basic engineering design calculations.
- Participate in both in-office planning and design, as well as field investigations and site visits.
- Collaborate with internal teams like landscape architects and surveyors, as well as external clients and contractors.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a technical school or a current student in Civil, Computer, Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering.
- Completion of at least one year in a Bachelor’s degree program.
- 0-6 months of experience.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
- Knowledge of or experience with CAD, Civil 3D, or survey software is preferred.
- Strong math skills and the ability to interpret plans and specifications.
- Demonstrated leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to pass safety classes and maintain a safety-oriented mindset.
- Willingness to embrace new technologies and processes.

- Location: Jerseyville, Illinois.
- Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Full-time.
- Travel: Approximately 10% travel is expected for field work, site visits, or meetings. This may require operating a motor vehicle.
- Status: Paid internship.
