    About the role#

    As a Student in the Archives, you will work with the Archives team to support core functions that preserve and provide access to the Bank’s historical records. This role involves assisting with both physical and digital archival workflows, contributing to service delivery, and maintaining the integrity and quality of the archival collection.

    What you'll do#

    • Assist with accessing, retrieving, and storing records, both on-site and off-site.
    • Support data quality improvements for archival accession records, including database entry and reconciliation.
    • Apply archival descriptions following the Rules of Archival Description (RAD).
    • Process the photographic collection, including assigning and maintaining numbering systems.
    • Participate in service improvement discussions regarding digital transformation.
    • Respond to internal client inquiries and provide access to historical records.
    • Maintain and improve physical storage areas to ensure compliance with preservation practices.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in an undergraduate degree or diploma program in library and information studies, archival studies, information management, history, or a related field.
    • Knowledge or experience in archival principles and practices, including arrangement and description.
    • Experience with data entry, quality control, and metadata accuracy.
    • Ability to provide client service in an information, archives, or research environment.
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to work both independently and within a team.

    Location & details#

    • Location: Ottawa, Ontario.
    • Term: Winter 2026.
    • Work Modality: Hybrid (minimum of 12 days per month on-site).
    • Status: Full-time (37.5 hours per week).
    • Compensation: Paid position ($22.84 hourly).
    • Eligibility: Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident and eligible to obtain Reliability security clearance.
