    About the role#

    Atom Computing is looking for a Research Intern to join the Quantum Error Correction team. You will work on the architecture and strategy of error correction for neutral atom quantum computers. This is a full-time, paid summer 2027 position based on-site in either Berkeley, California, or Cambridge, Massachusetts.

    What you'll do#

    • Contribute to new and ongoing research projects.
    • Tackle specific research questions regarding fault-tolerant quantum computing.
    • Work on QEC codes and fault-tolerant logic.
    • Support magic state production.
    • Assist with the synthesis and compilation of fault-tolerant algorithms.
    • Design, simulate, and execute fault-tolerant protocols.
    • Apply machine learning or AI to quantum computing tasks.

    What you'll need#

    • You are currently pursuing a PhD in Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field.
    • Experience with quantum error correction theory or experiment.
    • A willingness to translate concepts into demonstrations on actual quantum computing hardware.
    • Familiarity with Python and Git.
    • Ability to communicate and work with a diverse team of physicists and engineers.
    • A self-motivated, humble, and collaborative approach to your work.

    • Locations: Berkeley, CA and Cambridge, MA.
    • Work modality: On-site.
    • Commitment: Full-time for Summer 2027.
    • Compensation: $35 - $50 per hour.
    • Note: This position does not include visa sponsorship.
