About the role#
As a Thermal Intern, you will join our engineering team to design, evaluate, build, and test satellite hardware and software. You will work on complex projects alongside our team, contributing to meaningful hardware that heads to space. This is a full-time, hourly, on-site internship for Summer 2027.
What you'll do#
- Perform thermal analysis on hardware including propulsion components, batteries, electronics, RF components, mechanisms, and PCBs.
- Support design trades to balance performance margins, resource use, risk, cost, and schedule.
- Design, evaluate, procure, and test thermal solutions like heaters, heat pipes, thermal interface materials, and surface coatings.
- Develop integration and assembly procedures to ensure thermal design intent is met.
- Collaborate with the integration and test team to install thermal hardware.
- Plan and run thermal vacuum testing and verification at both the component and spacecraft level.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics.
- Demonstrated ability to personally design, build, and test hardware from scratch.
- Enthusiasm for hardware development and hands-on design.
- US Citizenship or Green Card status.
- Experience with CAD.
- Experience with analytical thermal software like ANSYS or Thermal Desktop.
- Experience with electronics systems design and packaging.
- Previous project or internship experience related to aerospace.
