About the role#
As a Software Engineer Backend Intern on the Platform team, you will build software that sends commands to space. You will design services that autonomously control satellites, monitor telemetry for anomalies, and provide real-time situational awareness to keep our fleet safe and online. You will also build core components that power our broader software organization, helping teams move more reliably. This role contributes to both commercial and US government programs.
What you'll do#
- Design and build high-performance, mission-critical software.
- Take full ownership of features by working across backend and infrastructure.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to define software requirements, architectures, and designs.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or an equivalent degree.
- Strong proficiency in Python.
- Experience with databases such as Postgres.
- Experience with pub/sub and streaming systems like RabbitMQ or Flink.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes and building fleet management systems is a plus.

- Compensation: $29.00 per hour.
- Status: This is a full-time, paid internship.
